A detox is a process that makes lifestyle changes to clear our body of toxins. It’s an effective way to speed up your metabolism and enhance your overall health. These lifestyle changes typically involve abstaining from certain harmful things and optimising body processes. The aim of detoxification is to eliminate all the negative effects on the body from the environment: industrial chemicals, pesticides, additives in our food, secondary smoke, pollutants, and heavy metals included.

It’s important to focus on our diet in order to cleanse our body, but there are other factors that we must consider when getting rid of body toxins. These are effective ways of getting the bad toxins out and welcoming in the elements that your body needs. Exercise and meditation helps to maintain a healthy body. Exercising helps you sweat, and sweating helps release toxins through your skin. Studies have found trace amounts of arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury in sweat. Skin exfoliation is also a very good way to get rid of toxins, while meditation helps you clear your mind and reduce stress. Stress can be as toxic to your health as chemicals. A troubled mind can cause the physical body to function poorly.

Following a healthy diet can go a long way when it comes to body cleansing. A simple way to help your body to detox is drinking a tall glass of water with juice from half of a lemon in the morning. Lemon helps re-hydrate the system and promotes digestion, which will help the flow of waste out of your body. Drinking tea is also good to purify your body as not only is tea full of antioxidants, it hydrates the body cells and fills you up. When you go food shopping, turn to organic foods. When you choose the right organic foods, you avoid the toxins that can be harmful to your health. These are simple ways of implementing changes in your routine in order to detox the body.  Remember that if there is one thing that can easily and naturally help you to detox your body, it’s definitely water. We tend to think that we’re drinking enough when we really need to increase our intake dramatically. Water can help to flush out your system naturally. Proper water intake can contribute to clearer skin, properly functioning organs, and a more effective circulatory, respiratory, and digestive system. So this one simple substance can offer great help to our entire body and the way that it functions.

I believe in holistic ways to cleanse your body that focus on being physically and mentally healthy, and that isn’t extreme, but can be exceptional for getting rid of the substances that your body doesn’t need. Body cleaning starts with meditation and learning to quiet the mind, learning to focus on the present moment. Another aspect that I also think is very important when it comes to cleasing is purifying the air you breathe, avoiding smoke, fumes, pet dander, mold, mildew, and microorganisms can make the air in your home even more toxic than the air outside. Then, you can adopt some temporary changes to your diet that can help you speed up your detox process ( like a juice detox diet consisting in consuming freshly-made fruit and vegetable juice—preferably organic, for a few days) or you can make a few permanent changes, incorporating uncooked fruits and vegetables and raw nuts, seeds, and sprouts, and getting rid of processed foods in your diet. Remember that getting rid of toxins means filling your body with energy and living a happier life.
