Have You Been There Before?

November 1, 2014

Déjà vu is a French expression that refers to that feeling you have when you know you have been there before or met someone before but cannot logically explain how. Some people believe this is evidence of a previous life and reincarnation and some think it is due to a brain malfunction.

Some people’s déjà vu has been so strong they have been able to find their way around cities and towns they have never visited before. They have recognised the sites of buildings that have been demolished and even found their way home from places they had never been before. Once they have been hypnotised or ha d a past life progression they remember a whole life in this place.

For many, déjà vu appears to go deeper into our psyche than brain oriented memories do. When we experience déjà vu we feel emotional and have sensations that are fundamentally different to remembering an old memory, or sorting out who, where, what, and when an event transpired. Déjà vu just feels profoundly different than anything else we regularly encounter.

Some psychic believe human brain holds memories and information, but only from this lifetime on planet Earth. But there are fragments of what our soul has experienced previously and what we have learnt on our many lives on earth.

Scientists believe déjà vu associated with temporal-lobe epilepsy. Déjà vu can occur just prior to a temporal-lobe seizure. People suffering a seizure of this kind can experience déjà vu during the actual seizure activity or in the moments between convulsions.

Other scientist have found that the brain can do a double take, it takes a quick glimpse of a scene or person and before it develops a perception of them, it take in the details again. So we look around and think “I am sure I’ve been here before” or “Where do I know you from?”

As well as epilepsy déjà vu is seen in people with certain mental disorders, like schizophrenia, anxiety and personality disorders. This is often thought to be a malfunction of the electrical discharge in the brain,  We all have this issue, every time you jerk yourself awake just before dozing off , this an electrical fault in the brain. A similar fault causes a sense of memory where there is none.
