Reiki And Energy BalanceReiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. This technique was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century, and it is based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient’s body in order to induce the natural healing process and well-being. ‘Rei’ is the Japanese word for ‘Higher Power’ and ‘ki’ is the life force energy. In other words, Reiki is a ‘spiritually guided life force energy’. Reiki promotes inner peace and harmony. 

We live in a world of energy that nourishes and maintains all living creatures. The life force nourishes all the cells in the body and supports their functioning. Reiki treatment increases your supply of life force energy, and helps you heal quickly. This practice will also increase your capacity to channel Reiki energy when needed. When your energy levels are low, you are likely to feel weak, that’s why Reiki can help you to improve every aspect of your life, from physical health, to emotional balance. It’s a treatment that increases your supply of life force energy, and you will be less susceptible to illness. Strengthening your life force will help your body heal and remain healthy. Energy healing works by opening up the communication channels that enable cells in the body to talk to each other, allowing them to migrate to places where they are needed to initiate repair or to fight diseases, balance your energy levels, promote stress reduction and mental clarity. When energy flows constantly, there is balance and harmony within and around you, and you experience inner peace. 

Reiki cleans and clears the emotions, preventing them from being negative, and offers perspective. Thoughts and feelings can affect your life force, and if you have negative thoughts or negative feelings about yourself or others, the flow of your life force becomes low, causing your body not to function properly, and your body balance (physical, mental and emotional) is affected, increasing the chances for you to become ill.

Reiki technique is applied in a patient fully clothed, in a quiet environment. It’s safe for adults, children, babies and animals. The patient usually lies down on a massage table, and the therapist use their hands, placing them lightly on or near the body of the patient. The healing energy from the body and hands of the Reiki therapist, flows to the patient, promoting a peaceful feeling, and allowing the body to heal and balancing the patient’s energy. This energy comes from a transcendental source, a Higher Power, which exists on a higher dimension than the physical world we are familiar with, and is connected to an infinite supply of healing energy. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose health problems, the goal is to promote healing and balance, and increase your supply of life force energy, in order to help you heal quickly, relax, feel at peace, and reduce your stress.

Reiki practice is really wonderful if you want to start moving toward your physical, mental, and spiritual balance. As the reiki energy encourages you to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings, and activates your body’s own healing mechanisms to function more effectively, it has been integrated into many health care settings, including hospitals. Some studies suggest that Reiki therapy is really effective in reducing anxiety and pain, improving fatigue and helping relieve the symptoms of depression. 

I think that the important thing about Reiki is that it has the power to not only heal us physically, but it can also promote emotional healing. It can be a powerful tool to treat childhood traumas, cultural conditioning, limited belief system, bad habits, physical and emotional injuries. Reiki can restore our inner peace and harmony, and promote spiritual growth. Remember that happiness is not a matter of intensity, it is a matter of harmony and balance.
