Be Yourself

Being happy with who you are is the first step to happiness. Taking care of yourself is essential to live a long, happy, and healthy life. Everyone has negative thought patterns, but seeing life in a grateful perspective is the greatest gift you can give to yourself. Everyone wants to be happy, but we must first know who we are in order to love ourselves and consequently, be happier. The way you think about yourself affects your feelings and behaviour. Acknowledge your strengths because the more positive thoughts about yourself you nurture, more positivity you will spread to the people around you, and the more they will reflect it back to you. Choosing to see everything in a positive light, can improve your health, and have a wonderful effect in your life. The more gratitude you express, the more you will appreciate everything in your life.

Being non judgemental on a daily basis can help you to be aware of your negative thinking and negative self talk. By observing negative thoughts, you can suppress them from your mind. If you feel that there is something you don’t like about yourself, it’s okay, nobody is perfect. You just need to be reassured that you are able to change your behaviour. Be open to accept constructive criticism, because there is always something about ourselves we can improve on. Only when you work on addressing your flaws you can grow as a person. Just be aware when you are consumed by negativity, because you don’t want to ignore your blessings and give more attention to your problems in life.

In order to keep your thoughts positive, concentrate on the good things you have, and acknowledge all the amazing things in your life. Make a habit of thinking about your friendships, the important people in your life, and allow your mind to focus your energy towards the things you like about yourself. The more confidence you have and the more positive connections you make, the better you will be able to repel negative energies, and the easier it will be for you to feel spiritually fulfilled. Remember that quantity is not important, is the quality of your relationships that matter, including the quality of your relationship with yourself. Learn to laugh at yourself, prioritise your values and accept your flaws. You need to start embracing who you really are instead of hiding what you don’t like about yourself. Self knowledge leads to acceptance and is really empowering. It gives you the wisdom to trust your own judgment and be okay with your mistakes. You can only develop self confidence with positive thinking and healthy thoughts.

The more you get to know yourself, the more you’ll see and appreciate how wonderful you really are, and the happier you will be. When you make a decision to change your negative thoughts, is important to notice if you’re unhappy because you are listening to your fearful mind all the time. Think about positive things that you have done or accomplished in the past in order to minimise your insecurities. Remember that if you truly want to respect yourself in order to gain the respect of others, then you have to work on becoming the person you always dreamed of becoming. Everyone is insecure about something, so there is no reason to fill yourself with anxiety and fear. Loving yourself means looking at your personal flaws or mistakes as opportunities to learn or to better yourself, and recognising when people disrespect you in order to take steps to stop it.

Remember that most people aren’t out there to judge you, so don’t compare yourself to others. If you have too many things on your plate, allow some down time to relax and recharge your batteries. Take care of your physical self and continue to practice self-acceptance in order to forgive past mistakes and not let past situations colour who you truly are. Let go of control, because you simply can’t predict everything that is going to happen in your life. Just accept the fact that you’re going to have uncertainty in your life, and be fine with it. You may find it difficult to embrace your inner self because you don’t pay attention to what makes you feel happy and fulfilled. Set some time aside every day to nurture peace of mind, serenity, and calmness. Once you achieve inner peace, it will eventually lead to external peace and self acceptance. Happiness means loving yourself and being less concerned with the approval of others.
